ECP postponed the dicision on Maryam Nawaz’ appointment as PML-N Vice President

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday postponed the decision on Maryam Nawaz’appointment as Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) 

The ECP bench of three members headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Raza Khan heard the arguments today. The bench today ordered the lawyers to be given more assistance in this case, and said that they need more understanding of Supreme Court (SC) verdict and article 62 and 63 of the constitution. And then they postponed the next meeting to 3rd of Spetember 2019.


Earlier this august, Election Comission of Pakistan ECP has reversed its decision on a petition challenging the apointment of Maryam Nawaz as vice presindent of PML-N as she was convicted by court of law on several corruption cases.


On 9 May, 2019 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) filed a patition and contended that Maryam Nawaz can not hold any party position as she was convicted by court of law on 6 July, 2018  in a corruption case (Avenfield Reference), filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
