Pakistan to host the World Tourism Forum 2020
A meeting on Friday Aug 09, 2019 between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the World Tourism Forum took place and it was decided that Pakistan will play host to World Tourism Forum upcoming international event next year.
Over 1,000 foreigners will attend the five day proceedings of the World Tourism forum in Islamabad next year.
The delegation of World Tourism Forum was led by their president Bulut Bagci. The chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari was also part of the meeting which took place in islamabad.
During the meeting, Chairman PTDC briefed the delegation regarding the initiatives taken by the government to promote tourism in Pakistan. PM Imran Khan said that Pakistan had tremendous tourism potential but previous governments never paid heed to this aspect of the country. He added his government was making all possible efforts to promote tourism in the country.

World Tourism Forum is an Istanbul-based organisation devoted to developing tourism around the world with its annual meetings.
Pakistan Tourism Stats and Initiatives
In 2015, Pakistan 563,000 foreigners visited Pakistan. That figure climbed to 965,000 in 2016, 1.6 million in 2017 and 1.9 million in 2018.
During early 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a new visa policy to facilitate foreigners from 175 countries to promote tourism and investments in Pakistan. Visitors from these countries will be able to apply for an online visa. As per the new visa policy, e-visa facility will initially be provided to five countries namely Turkey, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
