Zulfiqar Bukhari, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Overseas Pakistanis on Tuesday 27 August, 2019 told that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led federal government is actively taking steps to promote tourism in Pakistan.

Addressing the event, he exhorted top private firms and consultants to assist Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to promote Pakistan tourism as a global brand.

He added the process to finalize the name of the brand was underway, in order to ensure its distinctive feature from other competitors.

Addressing the 2-day consultative workshop of National Tourism Coordination of Board (NTCB) and expert groups on tourism, organized by the PTDC in collaboration with United Nation Development Programme(UNDP), he said the PTDC would put out  tenders this week in order to develop Pakistan tourism industry as a customized brand in the world.

He said while citing the examples of various countries’ tourism brands, just like ‘Visit Dubai’
“I invite Pakistan’s top private companies to come forward and help us giving Pakistan’s tourism a brand which it deserves,”.

Zulfikar Bukhari appealed to the private sector to trust the government and take a lead for promoting the country’s tourism across the globe. “The role of local and International private sectors is imperative for development of tourism in Pakistan,” he added.

Zulfikar Bukhari said the role of government was to put together the business plans and hand them over to the private sector for carrying out the development work in the tourism sector. “It is not our job to become a private entity and run the hotels,” he added.

After coming into power, he said Pakistan new government (PTI) had arranged several workshops and seminars on tourism that showed their eagerness with regard to tourism promotion.

“Such events give us a chance to sit together for evolving proper plans in a holistic manner, rather than working in silos,” he added.

The Chairman said the government had recently formed the NTCB, comprising leading professionals from the tourism sector, to strengthen the coordination among federation, provinces and international organizations to project the various types of country tourism.

A French tourist Johanna says in her Diary, “I really wish everyone has a chance to visit Pakistan. When I was doing my research before coming, all I came across was news about bombings, kidnappings, and how the country was not safe for foreigners, especially women travelling alone. But I knew that this was not an accurate picture…I haven’t come across such generosity anywhere else in the world…I encourage you to go and discover Pakistan. I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed by the experience.”

Based on the improving conditions, rankings and observations by various organizations and travelers, it looks as Pakistan would soon be having confident time ahead when it comes to tourism industry.
